Management Team - Keith Chval

Extensive trial experience combined with pioneering work in high-tech investigations and prosecutions make Keith Chval one of the nation’s leading experts in technology and its impact on businesses.

Prior to co-founding Protek International, Inc., a suburban Chicago-based computer forensics, investigations, and litigation support firm, in April 2005, Keith created and supervised the High Tech and Computer Crime Unit in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, one of the first of its kind in the country.  In that role, Keith oversaw hundreds of investigations and prosecutions involving technology and digital evidence, and the unit achieved a 100 percent conviction rate during his seven-year tenure.

Keith’s reputation as a leader in high-tech law extends far beyond the courtroom, as reflected by his position as an adjunct professor of law at the John Marshall Law School, where he teaches on information technology, privacy law, economic espionage, cyber crime, electronic discovery, digital evidence, computer forensics and information warfare.  His Cyber Crime, Information Warfare and Economic Espionage course was the top-rated class for the Fall 2004 semester.  Keith is also a member of The Chval Law Group, P.C., a suburban Chicago-based law firm, where he heads up their high tech law practice.

Keith recently delivered the keynote address to the pre-eminent association of computer forensic examiners in the world at the 2005 annual International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists training conference in Orlando, Florida.  Over his career, Keith has designed and delivered training to thousands of prosecutors and law enforcement officers.

Over his 13-year-career as a prosecutor, Keith successfully prosecuted a wide range of cases, from first-degree murder to high tech and on-line crimes.
